Reading and writing habits of preservice teachers
Abstract
A study investigated the reading and writing behaviors of preservice teachers. Interviews were conducted with 24 preservice teachers. Results indicated several patterns regarding the reading and writing habits of preservice teachers in an elementary education program. Strategies for reading and writing that matched strategies taught in university methods courses were identified by both readers and writers and nonreaders and nonwriters. Nevertheless, none of them were able to articulate suggestions for nurturing a love of reading and writing in their future students.
